Welcome to Farming Through the Ages

“The past has been there all along, reminding us: This time–maybe, hopefully, against all odds, we will get it right.”
― Leslie T. Chang

Who am I?

My name is Justin – founder of farmingthroughtheages.com. I am from a farming family – grew up on a farm, worked on farms, studied agriculture, taught agriculture and now write about agriculture.

Farming is something that has stayed consistent throughout the inevitable ups and downs of life. I am lucky to have got to an age where I can look back through the rose coloured glasses and see only the good in farming – you know, that ‘Darling Buds of May’ image.

My Aim

To provide answers – how is our food produced – what does a farmer do – what is the normal body temperature of a cow – what is a ruminant – what’s the difference between organic and freerange – what was farming like in the past – what will it be like in the future – ?????????

To produce a site that is enjoyable, educational, useful, relevant and interactive. A site that is evolving just as farming is constantly evolving. To learn from the past – to action today – to shape the future.

This is a labour of love for me, something I have wanted to do for a long time and had neither the skill nor time to achieve it. What has changed? I’m learning the skills and making the time – just as farmers must do everyday.
